The Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Site recreates part of the 18th-century French fortified town that once guarded the approach to the Gulf of St. Lawrence. You can walk its streets, ramparts and buildings, and in season costumed interpreters bring the 1740s to life.
Louisbourg is about 35 km from Sydney, roughly 40 minutes by road. That makes it one of the most practical half-day trips on the island and a natural choice for cruise passengers. We handle the driving so you can spend your time at the site and along the coast.
